Expect a fully embellished race report in a few dayz, once I get all the gravel dug out of my eye sockets....For now: DBD's own, Brave Buffington did NOT disappoint nor did Joe Meiser...Kudos to Ben Doom for aiding and abetting the author...and of course, Thank you Mr. Skogen and Team
amateur: n. 1. a person who engages in some art, science, sport, etc. for the pure pleasure of it rather than for money. 2. a person who does something without professional skill...derived from the french word "amare" which means "to love." That's me...Even though I am without professional skill...far from it; I love adventure, I love climbing, I love a good Hard-core Stout, I LOVE DULUTH, MN and I am obsessed with cycling & no one pays me so much as a penny! I am the consummate Amateur...

Royal 162 turned out to be kinda tough in a Shackleton sort of way...

Buff is not human. Dbd and meiser needs their own category just to be fair to us lesser individuals.
ReplyDeletedid you ride the out and back part?
ReplyDeleteI stopped at about mile 100. I think you and Ben (or Guy riding the SOMA Mtb) dropped me near mile 80. Things were bleak for me after that. Alas I'm but a lowly mortal unfit to ride with the harden bike gods of the north.
ReplyDeleteIt was a brutal day! I "only" did the 100, and it was a LONG day for me. I can't even imagine the extra pain you 162 guys went through!
ReplyDeleteGreat meeting you and riding with you on Saturday. Wasn't able to hang on to you and Ben and ended up in a bar to warm up for a bit. I emerged a new man and rode the final 60 miles solo. Looking forward to your race recap.
ReplyDeleteCharlie, thanks for the bite on the blog! So great to see your smiling face this weekend! Keep the wheels moving!
